Aerobar Armrest Velcro Replacement Program
What's the problem?
We recently discovered that a batch of Redshift Quick-Release Aerobars were assembled using an incorrect adhesive to attach the armrest velcro to the base metal armrest plate. This can cause the velcro to separate from the metal while riding, causing the armpad to fall off of the aerobars. Based on testing and customer feedback, it appears that the the problem is most likely to occur if the armrests are wet due to rain, dew, sweat, etc.
How do I know if my aerobars are affected?
The affected aerobars were assembled and sold between February 1, 2016 and August 31, 2016. If you purchased a set of Redshift Quick-Release Aerobars from www.redshiftsports.com, Amazon.com, or an authorized Redshift Sports retailer between February 1, 2016 and August 31, 2016, your aerobars may be affected. We will replace your armrest plates and velcro free of charge.
What information do we need from you?
We need you to fill out the replacement form on this page so we can send you replacement parts. In the "Details" section, please provide your current shipping address so that we know where to ship the replacement parts. In the "Order Number" section:
- If you ordered from redshiftsports.com, please provide the 4-digit Redshift order number that you received in your email confirmation.
- If you ordered from amazon.com, please provide the Amazon order number that you received in your Amazon email confirmation. This number should be in the format ###-#######-#######. We may ask you to email us your Amazon purchase confirmation if Redshift Sports was not the Amazon seller that fulfilled your order.
- If you purchased from an authorized Redshift retailer such as a bike shop or other online store, please provide the name of the store and the date of your purchase (for example, "Joe's Bike Shop - 6/5/2016").
What should I do once I fill out the form?
First, please stop using your aerobars immediately. Your safety is our primary concern, and although there have been no reported accidents, you should remove the aerobars from your bicycle until you receive and install the replacement parts.
When we ship the replacement parts, you'll receive an email confirmation of the shipment. Once you receive the replacement parts, simply remove the existing armrest plates and replace them with the new parts. You can watch a quick video tutorial showing how to remove, adjust, and install the armrest plate here (see "Quick-Release Aerobars - Adjusting Armpad Position"), and you can refer to the aerobar instruction sheet here.
What do I do with the old armrest plates?
Great question! If you're in the continental US, we'll provide a prepaid return shipping label for you to send the old armrest plates back to us. Simply peel and stick the label onto the original envelope (making sure you cover the old label), seal the envelope and drop it in the nearest mailbox or USPS location.
If you're outside the continental US, you can simply discard or recycle the old armrest plates. The plates are aluminum, so in most cases they can be recycled using standard means.
